It has been a while since we reported about BMW and Toyota’s joint sports car compared to the flurry of reports in the first half of the year. Now, we have rumours about the pricing of Toyota’s version of the joint sports car.
According to a source, Toyota’s sports car will cost more than a Chevrolet Corvette which starts at USD 54,995 (Rs 33.8 lakh) in the US market. This would make the new sports car the steepest priced coupes from the Japanese carmaker.
The source adds that apart from the price the company insider refused to comment on anything but that the cars are being tested on track and have moved to the concept stage.
If Toyota decides to launch this car in India through the CBU route its cost would put it squarely directed at the Porsche Cayman. We aren’t sure if people will be ready to accept a Toyota vehicle costing that much. In this case we believe only the BMW’s version of this upcoming sports car will be launched here.
