Toyota has showcased the facelifted Camry at the ongoing Guangzhou Auto Show. The company will launch the vehicle in China next year when it is expected to be introduced to the Indian market as well.
This 2015 model of the Camry gets many revisions to the exterior, the most evident change being the new bumper with larger air intakes. These inlets are surrounded by a chrome slat that lends the car a fresh look. This enclosure also houses the circular fog lamps. The car sports new headlights, daytime running lights and there is a horizontal chrome slat at the end of the bonnet. The grille is also embellished in chrome. When one notices the side profile of the car, the new design pattern for the alloys can be seen. The manufacturer has also made some revisions at the back of the vehicle where the tail lights get a chrome lining and the bumper is also redesigned.
A few modifications in the cabin differentiate the latest iteration of the car from the present model. A new three-spoke multifunction steering wheel can be seen, while the carmaker has also updated the instrument cluster. However, the basic layout of the dashboard remains the same.
This refreshed version of the Camry is available in two engine options in China with an additional hybrid version also in the offering. The conventional 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol motor continues to power the updated Camry. Another version powered by a new 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine is available. This mill produces 176bhp of power, 17bhp more than the standard model. The hybrid model will also be launched with the refreshed look but the same engine specifications of the current hybrid vehicle. On the transmission front, the six-speed automatic gearbox will be carried over, while the Hybrid variant will come paired to a CVT transmission.
Toyota might put the car on sale in China next year. The automaker might also launch this updated Camry in the Indian market sometime later in 2015. The car might be priced in the Rs 25-30 lakh bracket and will go up against the Volkswagen Passat, the Skoda Superb and even the new Audi A3 sedan.
