Toyota Kirloskar Motor has announced their sales figures for June 2016 which show an increase of 29 per cent in comparison to same period last year. The company sold 13,502 vehicles in India last month when they had sold 10,464 units in the same month last year.
The company's exports also show a growth as 1,352 units of the Etios series of cars were sold last month. Only 1,917 units were exported in June 2015. Toyota's overall sales also show a 20 per cent rise in sales performance in comparison to the corresponding period last year.
Toyota's success can be attributed to some products from their line-up, which have fairly done well. For instance, the Camry brand has grown. 90 per cent of the sales for this sedan are from the Camry Hybrid. This has helped the brand to achieve a 30 per cent hike as compared to the Camry sales in the same period last year. The Etios models have also registered a four per cent growth, cumulatively adding to the entire upward trend of sales.
N. Raja, Director and Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, said, "We launched the Innova Crysta last month and have received an overwhelming response from our customers. We would like to thank our customer for their trust in Toyota. The Innova Crysta has a waiting period of two to three months and we would request our customers to be patient with us so that we can bring the best products to them."
Though the carmaker has not given out the model-wise sales numbers, it is clearly the new Innova Crysta that has helped the company to pull up their sales numbers. Even if the MPV has undergone a major makeover, the new Innova is pitted to have robust built, space, comfort and reliability like the old one. At present only the diesel version is sold in the Indian market and the petrol trim is expected to be launched this Diwali. With its launch, we can expect Toyota's sales numbers to further get a boost.
