Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) sold 11,284 cars in February 2014. In comparison to the 13,979 vehicles sold in the same period last year, the company shows a drop of 19.27 per cent in overall sales.
TKM also sold 10,100 units within the country last month. The sales figures for the same month, last year, stood at 12,756 units. The Etios series of cars that were exported totaled to1,184 vehicles in February 2014.
N Raja, Senior Vice-President, Sales and Marketing, said, “The excise duty cut was a welcome step taken by the Government to revive sale. However, other factors like high interest rate, falling rupee and unstable fuel pricing still loom large in the market."
Toyota Kirloskar Motor has two plants in India, both in Karnataka. The Innova and the Fortuner are produced at the first plant, while the Prado, Land Cruiser and Prius are imported through the CBU route. The products from the second plant, which is located on the outskirts of Bangalore, are the Corolla Altis, Etios, Etios Liva, the Camry and the Camry Hybrid. Toyota recently launched the Etios Cross in India and opened bookings for the new Corolla Altis. We hope the refreshed cars and new vehicle launches help the manufacturer in improving its sales and get a firm footing in the Indian market.
