Domestic sales of Toyota in India grew by 51.81 percent in April 2017. The carmaker sold 12,948 vehicles last month against 8,529 units sold in the corresponding month last year.
Toyota exported 1,109 units of the Etios series in April 2017. This is 131 units more than the corresponding exports figure in 2016. So the overall sales for Toyota have increased eventually posting a good sales growth for the manufacturer.
N. Raja, Director and Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Toyota Kirloskar Motor said, “We have been able to sustain a robust growth in the month of April 2017. This growth has been propelled by the overwhelming response the new Fortuner has received. Ever since its launch in India in 2009, the Fortuner has been an undisputed segment leader. The launch of the new Fortuner has helped us up this ante as the new Fortuner has already sold more than 12,200 units in less than six months of its launch. Considering the segment in which the Fortuner is present, this is a great achievement for us."
Apart from the Fortuner, the Innova Crysta continues to remain the primary contributor to Toyota's sales figures. Then, there’s the updated Corolla Altis which has received a great response and also added to the carmaker’s monthly sales growth. The carmaker is now planning to launch a sport touring version of the Innova tomorrow. Stay tuned to CarWale for more updates.
