From luxury car manufacturers to the mass market manufacturers most entities of the Indian auto sector are chastised by the current lethargic state of the market. Toyota has joined the band wagon with its August sales report revealing a six per cent drop in its sales figures compared to the same period last year.
The company sold a total of 15,201 units in August compared to 16,225 in the same month in 2012. In the domestic market, Toyota sold a total of 12,007 units against 13,995 units in August 2012. The company exported 3,194 units of the Etios series last month.
All major manufacturers are betting on the coming festive season to improve the current situation and are prepping their line up in an attempt to lure probable customers. But the depreciating rupee is not aiding them in any way as the scenario is forcing manufacturers to increase the prices of their models to maintain margins.
