Toyota Raize, the latest compact SUV from the Japanese car manufacturer measures under four metres in length. The compact SUV has been launched in its home country and it is available in four trims – X, XS, G and the Z. The new Raize is the first compact car to be produced by Daihatsu Motor Company Limited. The company has incorporated its next-generation car making DNGA (Daihatsu New Global Architecture) platform. Toyota further adds that all aspects of the car – including platform and powertrain unit have been newly developed to deliver a higher driving performance, safety and luxury.
The Raize compact SUV measures 3,995mm in length, is 1,695mm wide and has a height of 1,620mm. The vehicle rides on 17-inch wheels and claims to offer class-leading storage space of 369-litres. Speaking of features, the Raize features a large nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system which is compatible with SmartDeviceLink and Apple CarPlay. The Raize has been introduced in eight monotone colour options and three dual-tone colour options.
Under the hood, the Toyota Raize is powered by a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that produces 98bhp of power and 140Nm of torque. The engine comes mated to a CVT gearbox. In terms of safety, the Raize gets Smart Assist safety features which includes the crash avoidance braking function, which is capable of detecting both vehicles and pedestrians, and the erroneous start prevention function with braking control. It is believed that in the Indian market, the new DNGA platform might also be used by Toyota and Maruti Suzuki to jointly develop a new product which will rival the likes of Kia Seltos and the Hyundai Creta in the country.
