- Android Auto system to be introduced across models internationally
- Toyota Yaris likely to be the first product to receive Apple CarPlay in India
Japanese car manufacturer, Toyota has emerged as the latest one to adopt Android Auto system for its vehicles in the global markets. Fresh reports reveal that Toyota and Google have entered into an agreement for this Android Auto system. Toyota is likely to make an official announcement of its Android Auto plans in October.
Earlier this year, the Japanese car manufacturer had introduced Apple CarPlay across a few models in the global market. Till then, Toyota had refrained from introducing Android Auto and Apple CarPlay citing concerns over personal data that the parent company required for the software to work. The company deliberately chose to avoid third-party connectivity systems to avoid compromising on user data being tracked. Although the company has not revealed its plans for India yet, the recently launched Yaris sedan is likely to be the first car to receive the Apple CarPlay system.
As of now, it is not known which one of the Toyota models would get the Android Auto system and more details in this regard will be known post the official announcement next month.
