The Toyota Corolla Altis Diesel will be launched tomorrow. Earlier this year, Toyota Kirloskar Motor India Limited introduced the CNG version of the Corolla Altis and we will now see the diesel variant rolling out. While the final engine specifications are yet to be officially announced, one expects the engine to be in the 90 - 100bhp range, to fight competition in the segment.
The Corolla Altis diesel will have the same features as its petrol sibling; in terms of exteriors, interiors and safety. The Corolla Altis Diesel will compete with the Skoda Laura, Volkswagen Jetta and Chevrolet Cruze diesel. With Toyota known for its reliable maintenance-free cars, this could well be their trump card in the mid-size sedan segment and work well in their favour. While pricing will be announced tomorrow, we expect it to begin at 13.5 lakhs (ex-showroom price Delhi)
The Toyota Etios, on the other hand, will be launched only in December. The Etios hatch will be powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine whereas the sedan will have a 1.5-litre petrol engine. Toyota plans to launch the Etios first in India and make India its export hub for the Etios.
