Toyota has used the expo platform to launch upgrades of its two very successful models in india, the Innova MPV and the Fortuner SUV. It also unveiled its new Camry which will be launched this year in India as well. The new Camry apart from looking more palatable and executive also boasts of better interiors. Equipment list will be similar to the Accord rather than the Passat, two cars it will go against. In terms of engines, it will only come with a petrol engine and an automatic transmission. The power and torque rating for the 2.5-litre, 4 cylinder engine are rated at 181bhp and 231Nm, respectively. The Innova meanwhile gets some visual tweaks both outside and inside, but the mechanicals remain unchanged. So, the Innova is still available with a petrol and diesel engine and only a manual gearbox. It does retain its strengths as a result though, translating into comfortable ride, noteworthy dynamics and good interior room as well. Toyota is now looking to position it as a premium family car to take on D-segment sedans; a move it had attempted when Toyota had first launched the MPV. As for the Fortuner, besides the facelift, it also now comes with the option of two wheel drive. Moreover, to expand its appeal, it also gets an automatic gearbox. The Fortuner is among the highest selling luxury SUVs in the country.
