Toyota Kirloskar Motor celebrates 20 years of its journey in India. The popular car models in India like the Qualis, Innova, Fortuner and the Corolla, are backed up the global QDR philosophy. The Japanese automaker had set up its first factory in India in 1999 and went on to launch its first car, the Qualis in 2000. Post the launch of the Qualis, Toyota claims that the company has been focusing on evolving customer aspirations in the country.
After the success of Toyota Qualis in India, the company introduced the Camry in 2002, Corolla in 2003, Innova in 2005, Fortuner in 2009, Etios in 2010, Innova Crysta in 2016 and the Yaris in 2018. As part of its plans to provide safe cars for the Indian market, Toyota was the first auto manufacturer to offer airbags as standard across models in 2015. Soon in 2016, the company offered ABS with EBD as standard in the new Platinum Etios and the Liva. The latest product from Toyota in India, the Yaris, is the first in its segment to offer seven airbags as standard. The company has also reportedly undertaken several eco eco-friendly initiatives at its facilities. In FY 2018-19, 76 per cent of the water consumed in the manufacturing facility was recycled water and only 7 per cent of fresh water was consumed. Moreover, Toyota successfully sourced 87 per cent of electricity from renewable source of energy for its operations in Bidadi facility in FY18-19.
Speaking on the occasion, Masakazu Yoshimura, Managing Director, Toyota Kirloskar Motor said “We would like to thank our customers, our vendors, our people and the Government for the relentless support and trust in the company over all these years.
