The Innova MPV from Toyota has no real competitors in its segment and the only one which comes anywhere close to it is the Maruti Suzuki’s Ertiga MPV. In an effort to thrill Innova fans further and keep the interest alive, Toyota is likely to launch the new Innova Crysta Touring Sport on May 4. The upcoming trim does not get any mechanical upgrades and changes will be limited to cosmetic upgrades only. The new model will be based on the current Crysta’s top-spec ZX variant and is presently sold as the Venturer in Indonesia. It is believed that the special edition Innova Crysta Touring Sport with a six-seat layout wherein the second row will get captain seats.
In terms of design, the Touring Sport version will be offered with sporty body cladding on the bumpers, wheel arches and side skirts. The vehicle will get chrome element on the grille as well as the ORVMs. To enhance its sport quotient, the MPV might get smoked headlamps and 205/65 R16 tyres wrapped around blackened alloys. As for the interior, the Innova Crysta Touring Sport will get premium leather upholstery along with a touchscreen infotainment system and a TFT multi-information display. Moreover, the vehicle might also get Touring Sport embossed floor mats and other unique detailing.
Mechanically, the Innova Touring Sport is expected to be offered in petrol as well as diesel guise. The petrol version might get a 2.7-litre engine which generates 164bhp of power and 245Nm of torque. As for the diesel version, it might get a 2.8-litre engine which generates 172bhp of power and 360Nm of torque. No information has been put out regarding its pricing yet, but we believe it will cost an additional Rs 50,000-Rs 70,000 over the regular model.
