Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) sales stood at 12,351 units in January, higher than the 10,336 cars sold in the same month in 2017. This shows a growth of 19 per cent in year-on-year domestic sales.
Apart from the hike in domestic sales for TKM, the company's exports also helped boost the cumulative sales numbers. The carmaker exported 888 units of the Etios series last month, thus clocking a total of 13,239 units. The export numbers have dipped slightly as 916 units of the Etios series were exported in January 2017.
Though the company has not given out the model-wise sales number break-up, clearly, it is the Toyota Innova Crysta that has helped the manufacturer record good sales numbers last month. And then, the Fortuner has promised a further growth impetus. TKM has had to push their production capacity to fulfill the strong demand of these cars. Good service back-up is another indirect factor adding to the sales growth of the company.
