- Toyota India sold 13,677 units in July 2018 as compared to 17,750 units in July 2017
- Exported 747 units of Etios series in July 2018 as compared to 1,723 units in July 2017
- Reports a bimonthly sales growth of 36 per cent in June and July 2018
Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) witnessed a 23 per cent decline in sales last month with 13,677 unit sales as compared to 17,750 units sold in July 2017. The company had exported 747 units of the Etios series this July, thereby taking the total sales number to 14,424 units. In the same month last year, the company had exported 1,723 units of the Etios series, thereby witnessing a decline of 56.64 per cent in July this year.
However, in comparison to June-July 2017, the pre and post-GST months, the company has now reported a bimonthly sales growth of 36 per cent in the same period this year. Speaking on the occasion, N. Raja, Deputy Managing Director, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, said, “We are happy that we have achieved a growth of 36 per cent in the combined sales of June-July as compared to the same period last year. June –July 2017 was a unique case owing to last year’s GST scenario, wherein we supplied as per the market demand which was impacted due to impending GST implementation. With the dedicated efforts of all our stakeholders, we have registered a significant growth in June-July 2018 irrespective of the highest July sales last year. Also between Jan - July 2018 we have posted a growth of 13 per cent as compared to the first seven months last year.
Toyota India is however happy with the current bimonthly sales growth and hopes to continue with good sales in the months to come as well. The Innova Crysta has reportedly been the highest contributor in June-July 2018 with 21 per cent growth as compared to the same period in 2017. Additionally, the company boasts that the recently launched Yaris sedan has been receiving good traction from customers.
