Toyota has launched the new Camry Hybrid in India for Rs 29.75 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The new sedan is the first locally assembled hybrid car in India with an ARAI efficiency of 19.16kpl and low CO2 emission of 122.8 grams per kg.
The Camry Hybrid is powered by 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine developing 159PS and 213Nm of torque; it is coupled with an electric motor with output of 143PS and 270Nm. The hybrid system in total offers this Camry a healthy output of 205PS and 270Nm, which is delivered to the front wheels via CVT automatic gearbox.
Toyota has made a few changes to the hybrid version over the standard car – the new model gets refreshed bumpers with sleek chrome grille and chrome fog-lamp surrounds at the front. The other updates include new alloy-wheels, ORVMs with turn-blinkers and hybrid badging with some extra chrome on both the side and rear.
The Camry Hybrid has a bigger features’ list that makes the rear seats even more comfortable place, like the power sunshade for rear windshield, collapsible front headrest with handle bars for easy ingress/egress and electric switches to control the front passenger seat from rear bench. However the highlights of the features are power recline rear seats and AC with climate-control; both controlled through center armrest. The ventilated-seats is one useful addition made for the front passengers.
The Camry Hybrid is one of the most comfortable cars in its segment with all the additional features. Also unlike the other hybrids it is a very sensible option with ample space and a reasonable price tag owing to CKD operations.
