Official confirmation is now available that the concept of the Toyota GT 86-based sedan will be debuting at the Dubai International Motor Show this week. The revelation was made via the Facebook page of the Dubai Motor Show and the organisers claim the four-door GT86 concept will make its "regional unveil" at this show.
Reports suggest that it will be a longer car and it will use the same platform as the standard model but the wheelbase will be stretched by 100mm to increase passenger space at the back. Aside from the stretched wheelbase and two additional doors, the GT 86 sedan will adopt a "keen-look" front grille as a reference to a Japanese katana samurai sword. Under the hood it will have the same four-cylinder, 2.0-litre engine with 200 bhp and 205Nm of torque.
In other news, there will also be a next-gen hybrid arrangement which has been previewed by Toyota at the IAA with the Yaris Hybrid-R concept. However, this will be released at a later date.
Toyota will show the GT 86 sedan based concept ahead of its expected presence at the Geneva show in March 2014 before going on sale either later in the year or in 2015.
