The Toyota Glanza has been launched in India at Rs 7.21 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi). The first car to come off the Toyota-Suzuki JV, it’s a cross badged version of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno. There are two variants with four trims, five colours and two engine options. Bookings officially opened on 5 June and deliveries will begin from next week.
The top-of-the-line V variant gets all the bells and whistles like LED headlamps, touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto compatibility and a 7.0-inch display. There’s also climate control and 16-inch alloy wheels. We have looked at the variant wise break-up of the Glanza and you can read about that here.
The Glanza will be offered with the 1.2-litre petrol as well as the 1.2-litre Dualjet hybrid. The former produces 83bhp/115Nm and can be had with a five-speed manual/CVT. The latter is good for 89bhp/113Nm and can be had with a five-speed manual only. The hybrid tag comes courtesy of functions like torque assist, stop-start technology and brake energy recovery function.
The Toyota Glanza is the Japanese automaker’s biggest foray into the premium hatchback segment where it will compete against the likes of the Honda Jazz, Volkswagen Polo, Hyundai Elite i20 and the Maruti Suzuki Baleno. Toyota is offering the Glanza with a three years/one lakh km warranty.
