Toyota's new Fortuner was recently spied testing in Thailand. The spyshot of the test mule in comparison to the side profile of the current car gives us an idea of the changes made to the new vehicle.
It is quite a known fact by now that the Japanese manufacturer will bring in a comprehensive update for the Fortuner. The latest iteration of the car is being developed and has been spotted testing several times earlier. This new spyshot shows the changes to the new car. By comparing it with the design of the Fortuner on sale now, we get to know that the crease on the doors is absent. The windows are a bit large and the last window gets extended till the C-Pillar meaning a larger view for the passenger in the back seats. The slim pillars and wheel arches remain unchanged but the car seems to look larger than the model currently on sale.
The changes to the updated SUV's exterior include a new two-slat grille that extends up to the sweptback projector headlamps. To add to the bling factor these headlights are surrounded by chrome embellishments. A redesigned bumper with a new black air dam, new fog lamp housings surrounded by thick curved aluminium accents differentiate this car from the Fortuner currently on sale. We can expect the rear section to also get a similar slim-cut treatment with sleek tail lamps.
The new Fortuner might be made available with a new set of engine options, the official details of which will soon emerge. These diesel units along with the petrol powerplants are expected to come paired to manual and automatic transmissions with the availability of 2WD and 4WD options.
This upcoming model of the Fortuner will be the latest iteration of the car replacing the model on sale now. It might be unveiled by the end of this year and go up on sale in India by early 2016. This refreshed version of the next-gen Fortuner will then compete with the Ford Endeavour when launched in our country.
