Toyota will launch its Fortuner on the 24th August 2009. The Fortuner will be powered by a 3.0-litre common rail engine and should bear a Rs 20 lakh price tag.
Toyota anticipates to get hold of about 50% of the market share with its SUV. “The Fortuner is an important addition to our product line-up in India and we are currently in the process of finalizing details for the launch. We are still working out the price details of the Fortuner, taking into account variations in exchange rates, but expect it to be around Rs. 20 lakh,†Sandeep Singh, deputy managing director, Marketing, Toyota Kirloskar Motor.
The Sports Utility Vehicle will be assembled in India. The other model on which Toyota is working is its small car.
