Launched in November last year, the new Toyota Fortuner has garnered 10,000 bookings till date. The Japanese manufacturer claims that it has delivered more than 5,000 units of the new Fortuner already as the car has a waiting period of up to 2-3 months.
The automatic variant of the new Fortuner is procuring greater demand in the SUV whilst the white body colour is the choice of around 60 per cent customers. The opting of the automatic variant in both four and two wheel trim indicates the Indian customer’s willingness to upgrade to higher variants, emphasises Toyota.
Incidentally, the Fortuner raked in more than 5,400 bookings and 16,000 enquiries within just two weeks of its Indian debut. After which, demonetisation happened and though it had a flying start, the new Fortuner succumbed to the after effects of demonetisation and it took two months for the SUV to amass its 10,000 milestone.
N. Raja, director and sr. vice president, marketing and sales, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, expressing his view on this milestone, said, “The new Fortuner has received a phenomenal response from our customers and the market. A true testimony to this lies in the fact that even though the new Fortuner was launched a day prior to the announcement of demonetization in India, it did not dampen the spirits of our customers for the all-new Fortuner. We thank our customers for such an encouraging and inspiring start to this iconic brand’s second innings in India. Right now, our main focus is to deliver the product to the customer at the earliest so that they don’t have to wait too long.”
The Fortuner SUV made its debut in 2009 in India, the Fortuner also surpassed the one lakh units’ sales milestone last month. It was also a major contributor, after Innova Crysta, in attaining the highest ever sales in December 2016 for Toyota in the last five years.
