Toyota has launched the Etios compact sedan in the Nepali market for 3.445 million NPR (Rs 22.82 lakh). It is available in a single variant and with both petrol and diesel engines. The car is being exported to the hill nation from the Japanese automaker’s Indian plant at Bidadi in Karnataka by United Traders Syndicate, the authorised distributors of Toyota products in Nepal.
The Nepali spec Etios is available in the V Petrol and the VD diesel Grade. While the former is a 1.5-litre mill that produces 90PS and 132Nm of torque, the oil burner is 1.4-litre that produces 69PS and 170Nm of torque. Both engines have been mated to a five-speed manual gearbox.
In terms of features, both the V and the VD grade are offered with front airbags, central locking, tilt adjustment and leather wrap for the steering wheel, alloy wheels and all four power windows. These are all the features found on the Indian spec car.
With the Indian market in a major slump, it is almost certain that most manufacturers are concentrating majorly on exports to various kinds of markets both big and small.
