Toyota Kirloskar Motor will introduce the refreshed versions of the Etios sedan and Liva hatchback this month. Thanks to these new set of pictures, the facelifted cars are already being previewed before its official launch.
The images show the changes made inside out. The fascia is where the major makeover can be seen with a new V-shaped grille with black inserts and chrome embellishments. The bumper gets a large intake and revised fog lamp inserts with chrome accents. The rear bumper is more sculpted on both cars, save for the addition of rear parking sensors on the Etios sedan. These revisions are in line with the Toyota Etios Platinum models introduced in Brasil.
However, the interior is not the same as the aforementioned Brasilian models, which get a digital instrument cluster and touch screen infotainment system. The Indian model instead gets a revised analog instrument cluster, still a much needed change over the earlier plain Jane one. The other changes include a dual tone black and beige dashboard, chrome air vents and a multi-function steering wheel wrapped in black leather.
The engine specifications are likely to be the same from the current Etios series of cars. This includes a 1.5-litre petrol mill producing 90bhp of power and 132Nm of torque. The oil-burner on the other hand is a 1.4-litre unit churning out 68bhp of power and 170Nm of torque. Both variants come mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. So it remains to be seen if Toyota will also add an automatic variant to this line-up.
It is the auspicious festive season when Indian consumers generally opt to buy new products. Toyota has planned well to cash in on this opportunity. The introduction of the refreshed cars should help boost the carmaker's overall sales numbers. More about the variant-wise pricing for these cars will be shared on the day of the launch this month.
