A facelifted Toyota Etios is expected to be launched in South America this month. As the leaked images suggest, there are no changes to the exterior, but some alterations in the cabin adding to the appeal of the interior.
There are absolutely no variations in the exterior and the design pattern of the alloy wheels also remains the same. However, the biggest change inside comes in the form of a new instrument panel. Its position still remains in the centre, but a new digital console replaces the old analogue one. The seven-inch touch screen infotainment system has not changed as it was brought in recently. Additionally, the car now gets new features like cruise control, ISOFIX child seat mounts and head restraint. There is also a three-point seatbelt for the middle seat passenger in the second row.
Toyota has tweaked the 1.3-litre Dual VVT-i and 1.5-litre Dual VVT-i flex-fuel engines to make them more efficient. The latter produces 107bhp of power, which is 10.5bhp more than its predecessor. There are changes in the transmission options as the five-speed manual gearbox has been replaced by a six-speed manual transmission. Also, the carmaker has added a new four-speed automatic transmission option now.
With its South American launch this month, deliveries are expected to start at the end of this month. It wouldn’t be a surprise if Toyota Kirloskar Motors introduces these changes to the Indian model as it will bring in a fresh avatar.
