Toyota will officially launch the Etios Cross tomorrow. The car was unveiled at the 2014 Auto Expo in February and later opened bookings for the car.
The Etios Cross is based on the Etios Liva hatchback and gets an aggressive body kit like the Volkswagen Cross Polo. Though the wheelbase is same, the vehicle is taller, wider and longer and it gets more aggressive looks than the outgoing hatchback. The car gets roof rails with a load bearing capacity of 50kgs and stands tall on 15-inch diamond cut alloy wheels.
Inside, the dashboard is painted in piano black colour. The other standard features are 2-DIN music system with AUX-IN and USB, leather- wrapped steering, power windows and tilt adjust for the steering in all the variants. The seats get white stitching and the 'Etios Cross' badge on them.
The Etios Cross will be available in three engine options- a DOHC 1.2-litre, a 1.5-litre petrol and a 1.4-litre D-4D oil burner. The 1.2-litre mill produces 79bhp of power and 104Nm of torque, while the other petrol engine is the 1.5-litre motor that churns out 90bhp of power and 132Nm of torque. The diesel variants are powered by the 1.4-litre mill that produces 67bhp and 170Nm of torque. All these engines are mated to a five-speed manual transmission.
The Toyota Etios Cross is expected to be launched tomorrow at a starting price of Rs 5 lakh, with the top-end variant priced at around Rs 8 lakh. It will be available in eight colours- ultramarine blue, classic grey, symphony silver, inferno orange, celestial black, white, vermilion red and harmony beige. It will go up against the Volkswagen Cross Polo and the upcoming Fiat Avventura when it goes on sale in the Indian market.
