Toyota is working on yet another generation of the Crown. Spotteu here undergoing high-speed handling tests at the Nurburgring race track is the 15th generation model.
The Crown is one of Toyota’s models that are built exclusively for Japan and China. This particular car was equipped with a four-cylinder hybrid engine and a CVT gearbox. We expect the new model to arrive at dealers in Tokyo and Beijing at the beginning of 2018.
A little bit of background on the Crown: introduced in 1955, the Crown has served as the mainstream sedan from Toyota in the Japanese market throughout its existence and holds the distinction of being the longest running passenger-car nameplate affixed to any Toyota model.
The current-gen Crown was launched in December 2012 with different styling and more features. It features 6 and 8 speed automatic gearbox options and engines ranging between 2.5 and 2.5-litre units.
