Toyota will have a separate zone to display their hybrid offerings at the Auto Expo. They are expected to showcase the Toyota Corolla Hybrid and the new Prius at this stall. The Toyota Corolla Hybrid is currently sold in the Chinese market.
Along with a different design, the car will also get changes that make it environment friendly. Looking at the front you can see the v-shape lifted from the Corolla Altis. The car also features modern LED headlamps with lengthy DRLs. We see that the grille at the bottom of the front bumper features a smooth wraparound design and also gets the foglamps with chrome inserts.
The environmentally friendly bit could be a 1.5-litre Atkinson cycle engine paired to an electric motor, developing 96bhp of power and around 100Nm of torque. The car will have a fuel efficiency figure of around 20.4kmpl.
"The odd-even scheme had allowed hybrid vehicles on all days. We are seeing a good increase in demand for our Camry hybrid in Delhi. Earlier, we use to sell around 45-50 units but in the first month of this year, it is around 80 units," Toyota Kirloskar Motor Senior Vice President, Director Sales and Marketing, N Raja told PTI.
The new Prius has got that typical modern Toyota fascia with sharp creases and a whole lot of angular design cues. The massive rear screen and the vertically stacked taillights add a lot of drama to the rear-end of the new Prius. The lighting on the Prius is almost completely LED. Based on Toyota's new Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform, the Prius is now better equipped, quicker and expectedly, more efficient than the previous model with Toyota claiming a 10 per cent improvement in fuel efficiency.
The Prius also comes standard with the Star Safety System, a suite of six advanced safety features that includes enhanced Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), 19 Traction Control (TRAC), Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA) 15 and Smart Stop Technology (SST).
Apart from the Corolla Hybrid and the new Prius, the Camry Hybrid and Toyota’s TS040 Le Mans Hybrid will also make their way to the hybrid stand at the 2016 Auto Expo.
