Toyota's upcoming Corolla is due for an update and the recently leaked patent images give us a fair idea about the facelifted version. This 2016 Toyota Corolla facelift might be unveiled at the Delhi Auto Expo next month.
The latest iteration of the Corolla is styled like the Japanese-spec Corolla Hybrid. The redesigned headlamp boasts of a chrome embellishment that runs into the front grille giving the fascia a wider look. A wide chrome strip can be seen running towards both ends on the modified front bumper while the side profile shows the new design pattern for the alloys. A similar treatment is given to the rear section which features a redesigned tail lamp cluster with a chrome strip. The revised styling will be reflected in the car’s interior as well.
There might not be any changes to the powertrain options and the current engine line-up will be carried over. The current Corolla is powered by a 1.8-litre four-cylinder petrol mill with the VVT-i that produces 138bhp of power and 173Nm of torque. The oil-burner gets a four-cylinder 1.4-litre diesel engine that belts out 88.4bhp of power and 205Nm of torque. These engine options come mated to a six-speed manual gearbox.
The current Toyota Corolla on sale was launched two years ago and the refreshed version will bring in a new avatar for the D-segment sedan. It will compete with the Skoda Octavia, Volkswagen Jetta, Chevrolet Cruze and Hyundai Elantra in the Indian market.
