Japanese car manufacturer Toyota is likely to shelve plans of introducing the new BS-VI Corolla Altis in India. The company is unlikely to introduce the new model due to the slack sales of the D-segment sedans, as new customers have been opting for the SUVs instead. This will also mean that Maruti Suzuki is likely to reconsider its decision to introduce a rebadged version of the sedan.
New product launches in the compact SUV segment has further narrowed down the price indifference as compared to the D-segment sedans. More space, features and better on-road presence has lured new buyers towards the compact SUV segment, especially the sub-four-metre compact SUVs. Toyota chooses to be tightlipped about their future product plans and more details about it will be known at a later date.
