The SUV segment has witnessed a phenomenal rise in demand in recent times. The growing popularity of the segment has encouraged car makers to introduce a fresh set of products in the Indian market. Here below are top 11 SUVs which are due for launch in 2019.
The stylish SUV from Tata Motors, the Harrier is due for its India launch on 23 January. The SUV will be limited to a manual 2.0-litre four-cylinder Kryotec engine which generates 140bhp and 350Nm. The vehicle debuts the IMPACT 2.0 design philosophy. The premium SUV from Tata will be offered with features such as eight-way adjustable driver seat with a four-way adjustable co-driver seat, leather upholstery, dual-zone climate control and more.
Nissan is contemplating about launching its most talked-about premium SUV, the Kicks, early this year. The SUV will be available in 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engine options. The India-spec model gets unique set of features in the form of LED projector headlights, quick cooling auto AC with rear vents, a leather-wrapped soft-touch dashboard and door trims, roof rail with 100kg loading capacity, premium leather stitched seats, shark fin antenna and more. As for safety, the vehicle will get airbags, ABS with EBD and braking assistance as standard.
The younger sibling of the XUV500, the XUV300, is due for launch in February 2019. The compact SUV is based on the SsangYong Tivoli, which was primarily developed for the developed markets. The company claims that the upcoming XUV300 will be a well-built product, which further means that this compact SUV will be the best quality product till date to be rolled out from the company’s production line.
Hyundai is working on an all-new sub-four metre SUV for India as well as international markets. Codenamed the QXI, the new baby SUV has been spotted on many occasions already. The headlamps will be a two-tier headlamp unit with a sleek unit on top with LED DRLs. Being a crossover, there will be body cladding all around the vehicle. The silhouette seems to be a scaled-down Creta; even the rear will have a similar tailgate.
Hyundai Tucson is due to receive a facelift in 2019. The new model is expected to be introduced with a fresh set of cosmetic and feature upgrades. The facelifted model will feature a new signature cascading grille, LED headlamps with a new signature and a sleeker design and a chiselled front bumper. While the profile continues to remain the same, it will get a new set of alloy wheels and a tweaked rear bumper.
Hyundai Santa Fe
An all-new Santa Fe is due for its India launch in 2019. It will come with hybrid and plug-in hybrid options. Owing to the growing demand for hybrid and electric vehicles in India, the new model is likely to emerge as a popular choice. The all-new Santa Fe features a modern and aggressive design. Additionally, it gets a new cabin layout along with an extensive feature list.
Back in November, the Ford Endeavour facelift was spotted on test in India. Appearance wise, the imposing three-louvre grille is revised along with the front bumpers. The SUV also sits on newly-designed two-tone finished 20-inch alloy wheels. On the inside, Ford might come with soft-touch materials to make the seven-seater even more premium.
For a while now there have been talks about the new Renault Duster. Likely to be launched sometime in 2019, the vehicle is expected to get a fresh set of cosmetic and feature upgrades. The new model gets an Alaskan-inspired grille flanked by LED strip headlamps. The overall design gives up its old boxy motif and is now curvier, similar to the all-new Captur. Hyundai Kona EV
Hyundai is likely to introduce the Kona EV in India next year. However, if reports are to be believed, Hyundai will initially offer only 1000 units of the vehicle for the Indian market. The Kona EV is styled pretty much like the standard car but sans a grille and specialised design for the alloy wheels which is specific to this model. It is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 25 lakhs to Rs 30 lakhs and will be the first electric SUV to be offered in this price range.
Kia is gearing up for its grand debut in India next year. The company’s first product in the country is expected to debut in the second half of 2019. The vehicle is expected to be produced at the Kia facility in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh. The SUV will get a signature Kia tiger-nose grille, sleek headlamps and a silver bash plate for a sporty stance.
Renault RBC
Renault RBC MPV was recently spotted testing in the country, thereby indicating on its possible launch next year. Based on what could be seen, the new model is likely to get black and silver interiors. The vehicle also gets a touchscreen infotainment system and five-speed manual and AMT options. It is believed that the upcoming RBC will borrow engine and underpinnings from the Datsun Go+ compact SUV.
