SUVs seem to be the flavour of the year for the global car-buying population and every carmaker is now jumping on this bandwagon. This means a plethora of spy shots of SUVs and some pickup trucks testing in various locations around the globe. Quite a few of these vehicles are India-bound and here is a collection of our top SUVs spied testing in August.
Suzuki Vitara facelift
This is an update for Suzuki’s compact SUV for the global markets. It has been around in its current avatar since 2014 and this appears to be a mid-life update for the SUV. The changes to the car appear to be with regard to fascia and rear hatch as a part of the update. Given the similarities between the Vitara and the Maruti Brezza, we believe these changes will be reflected here too.
Porsche Macan
Porsche’s mid-size SUV will complete three years next year and this means a mid-life update. This almost non-camouflaged car indicates that there will not be much of a change to the overall design. However, we can expect some mechanical updates under the hood as well as some new bits and features in the cabin.
Acura RDX
The RDX was Accura’s first SUV and this car will now enter its third generation since it was launched in 2010. Expect new design language and feature list but with the same mechanicals as the outgoing model. This model is expected to make its American market debut at the LA Auto Show in November with deliveries beginning in early 2018.
Ford Bronco
Ford is reviving the Bronco moniker and it will be a mid-size SUV for the American market. This is one of their most successful monikers and has run as a small SUV for over three decades. We believe that the car spotted in the pictures will be the Endeavour, but with added safety and features to meet the standards of the American market.
2018 Lincoln MKX
Ford’s luxury brand Lincoln’s mid-level SUV, the MKX will get a major revamp and this car under the covers is the mid-life update. You can already tell that this SUV will get the butterfly grille and swoopy Lincoln headlamps. The crossover stance will be retained but expect a lower roofline as a part of the package.
Ford Ranger Raptor
Another pickup truck from Ford was spotted on camera and this time it’s the Ranger in the performance oriented Raptor avatar. Expect this model to get sporty alloy wheels, big engine as well as lots of Raptor badges both in the front and rear of the truck.
Suzuki Jimny
The Maruti Suzuki Gypsy is perhaps the oldest vehicle that Suzuki produces anywhere in the world but it is not the most iconic. This honour goes to the Jimny which has been on sale for over 47 years and this new one will stay true to the boxy lines of the range. In Kei form, it will make use of small engines but globally expect bigger petrol options on the cards.
