Skoda UK has just introduced the new Octavia in the top-of-the-line L&K (Laurin & Klement) trim. With prices starting at £26,570 (Rs 26.92 lakh), this new, more feature-rich trim has been launched in both notchback and estate body styles.
Shown first at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show in March, the Octavia L&K sits as the new flagship of Skoda’s popular D-segment sedan. Over the existing Elegance trim, this new model gets 18-inch stylish alloy wheels, bi-xenon headlights with adaptive front lights system, LED rear lights, brown alcantara and leather upholstery, L&K logos, stitching and door sills. Inside, there’s a new 4-spoke multifunction steering wheel, leather/alcantara seats in elegant brown and a premium CANTON sound system.
Furthermore, the car features electrically adjustable driver’s seat with memory function, lumbar support and heating, adaptive cruise control with Front Assist, lane assist, park assist and cornering front fog lights.
Under the hood, the L&K trim is available with the same set of engine range powering the rest of the variants. The 180bhp, 1.8 TSI engine powers the petrol model while the diesel variants get a 2-litre TDI engine in two different states of tunes. The engines can either be specified with a 6-speed manual or a super quick DSG automatic gearbox. For cold weather conditions, Skoda is also offering a 4x4 estate model with a diesel engine mated to a manual gearbox.
Now that the top-spec L&K trim is added to the Octavia’s lineup, Skoda India might consider launching it here in the Indian market. Although the existing Elegance trim is generously specced and is fairly luxurious, the L&K trim will only add to the Octavia’s appeal.
