It is back! Yes we are talking about India’s only heavy racing series and boy are we excited for this latest season. There are a host of developments for this latest season of Tata Prima Truck racing and here are some of the highlights.
Fourth season
The truck racing series returns for a fourth season to the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida. This is a momentous achievement considering that the sport the track was designed for only managed to do three seasons. After 3 seasons, the trucks have grown, the drivers have grown and the participation looks to be stronger. With over 500 potential racers having gone through the selection process the final 10 who will be out on the track can pretty much be defined as the best of racing talent in the Indian trucking community.
1000bhp trucks
Yes you read it right! Tata will showcase a new 1040bhp race truck at this fourth season event. Powered by a massive 12-litre Cummins diesel heart, it produces 1040bhp and a ‘Rajinikanth spinning the earth’ 3500Nm of torque. All this massive output is managed by a 16-Speed ZF gearbox. The end result- a 0-160kmph time of 9.2seconds for a vehicle that is over five tonnes!
First female racer
Joining the boys club this time around will be first female truck racer to participate in the series. Hailing from Germany, Steffi Halm is veteran of truck racing in Europe and has and driven on a variety of circuits including the famous Circuit de La Sarthe a.k.a Le Mans.
