A weekend of speed, quarter mile runs, desi hotrods and burning rubber is what best describes The Valley Run. This is the only platform where top tuners in the country can bring their modified vehicles and brag about their drag times. They can boast about every single modification done on their favourite toy and how it help them shave off milliseconds down the airstrip. This year we witnessed some crazy modifications which took the game to another level. So here are the top modified cars that were the highlight of the 2018 Valley Run.
Tvara (rear-engine Skoda Octavia)
Coming all the way from Vizag, AP, the rear-engined Skoda Octavia changed its body colour but not its intentions. Famously called the Tvara, the Octavia was finished in bloody red this year compared to the green paint job from last year. The drag-spec fibre body Octavia won the G2 Stock and Unrestricted category of India cars with a time of 13.917 seconds. The rear-mounted engine was fitted with massive Garett turbochargers with intercoolers and ran on racing slicks for maximum traction.
B16 Honda City
The black Honda City Mk1, at first glance, won’t come across as a car running 400 horsepower under its hood. But the stripped-down sedan had a massive turbo on its B16 engine with custom-made intake and exhaust manifold. The City clocked a time of 13.638 seconds in the F category of ‘Indian cars with Foreign Engines’. Interestingly, the City had a water-methanol fuel injection system with launch control as well.
Skoda Laura Stage 3
The Skoda Laura from Team N1 racing was the most focused Laura of the event. It only had a driver seat inside the cabin with everything stripped off to save weight. The rear doors were replaced by fibre as well. Under the hood, it had a Stage 3 modified 1.8-litre petrol engine running on drag slicks. Putting out some insane amount of power, the Laura finished the day with a best time of 13.683 seconds.
Maruti Suzuki Esteem
Now an Esteem won’t ever come across as a car packing a NOS cylinder between the front seats. But this Esteem from Goa had one. It ran in the Pro Stock Petrol category and finished with a time of 16.440 seconds. It gave the highly modified Mk1 Honda City a run for its money.
