German premium car manufacturer BMW has further expanded its X1 line-up with the newly introduced SDrive20d M Sport variant in the country. The new trim is positioned between the sDrive20d xLine and the xDrive20d M Sport variants. Here below are the top five highlights of the BMW X1 sDrive 20d M Sport -
Exterior
The X1 sDrive 20d M Sport borrows a lot of styling cues from the top spec xDrive20d M Sport variants. The M spec body kit includes an aggressive front bumper and side skirts, body-coloured cladding and a rear bumper with diffuser inserts in dark shadow metallic finish. The kidney grille gets a high gloss black paint scheme and the car features an M logo on the front fender. Moreover, the same M Sport insignias are used all around the car including the door sills.
Interior
In comparison to the top spec X1 variant, the sDrive 20d M Sport gets a 6.5-inch infotainment system instead of a heads-up display and 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Apart from that, the vehicle is offered with features such as digital instrument cluster, dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting, electrically adjustable front sports seats, auto-dimming mirrors, rear parking sensors with a camera and 40:20:40 split seat.Â
Engine
Mechanically, the X1 sDrive20d M Sport gets a 2.0-litre four-cylinder oil burner which generates 190bhp of power and 400Nm of torque. The engine comes mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission as standard. This variant, however, does not get the all-wheel-drive (AWD) system and power is sent to the front wheels.Â
Price
Priced at Rs 41.5 lakhs (ex-showroom all-India), the BMW X1 sDrive 20d M Sport is almost three lakhs cheaper than the top spec xDrive M Sport variant.Â
Competition
Customers now have four BMW X1 variants to choose from. The vehicle takes on the likes of the Audi Q3, Mercedes-Benz GLA and the Volvo XC40. The lack of AWD option might seem like a costlier proposition, however, it offers the M Sport package that makes it a good option.
