The German manufacturer unveiled the fourth generation of their flag ship sedan, the A8 at an event in Barcelona. The new Audi A8 was shown as the prologue concept in the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo and the new car’s design is faithful towards the concept car. However the new limo also has a long feature list, and to give you an idea of what the new Audi A8 packs, here are our top five highlights of the luxury sedan.
The new design language
The Audi lineage is apparent on the exterior and the new car is quite low slung. The front makes it evident that the limo is from the Audi family with the large trapezoidal grille and sleek full LED matrix headlamps. The interiors boast of an all touch screen centre console housed in a wraparound dashboard design.
Traffic Jam Pilot
Audi’s level three autonomous driving system manages starting, accelerating, steering and braking. The driver can take their hands off the steering wheel and as soon as the system reaches its limits, it calls on the driver to take back control of the task of driving.
Remote Parking Pilot
The Audi AI remote parking pilot and the Audi AI remote garage pilot autonomously steer the A8 into and out of a parking space or a garage, while the manoeuvre is monitored by the driver. To monitor the parking manoeuvre, the driver should hold the Audi AI button pressed to watch a live display from the car’s 360 degree cameras on their device equipped with myAudi app.
Audi AI Active suspension
The Audi AI active suspension, depending on the driver’s requirements and the driving condition, is capable of raising or lowering each wheel separately with electric actuators. In combination with a pre sense 360°, the car is raised with lighting speed if there is a forthcoming lateral collision and reduces the potential consequences of the mishap for all occupants.
Dynamic all-wheel steering
The steering ratio for the front wheels varies as a function of speed; the rear wheels are turned in-or-against the direction of steering depending on the speed of the car.
