Auto Expo 2016 has revealed the future plans for many manufacturers. Here is a list of our top seven new cars to expect in the next two years.
Maruti Vitara Brezza
After much hype, Maruti has finally taken the wraps off its sub-four metre compact SUV, the Vitara Brezza. After their previous crossover the S-Cross sales failed to turn up the heat, Maruti has put in a lot of effort to make the Brezza a successful product. For starters, the compact SUV, at 98 per cent is heavily localised which will assure a very competitive price tag. The Brezza will be powered by the familiar 1.3-litre diesel motor putting out 90bhp of power and 200Nm of torque. In terms of design the Brezza has a proper mini-SUV stance with a slab-like front and flared wheel arches and large 16inch rims. We expect the Brezza to be priced between Rs 7-10 lakh and it will be launched next month.
Hyundai Tucson
The Hyundai Tucson is making a comeback and thanks to Hyundai’s fluidic design language, the SUV looks modern as well as imposing. The Tucson will sit in between the Creta and the larger Santa Fe and will be powered by a petrol and diesel motor, coupled to an automatic or manual gearbox. We expect the cabin to have the typical Hyundai finesse and quality with comfortable seating for five. The Tucson in its third generation is expected to be launched by September this year and will be priced between Rs 18-22 lakh.
Tata Kite 5
The Tata Kite 5 is basically the sedan version of the soon to be launched Zica hatchback. This compact sedan will have no direct rivals as it will slot in under the Maruti Dzire and Honda Amaze. The Kite 5 will likely be powered by the new three cylinder 1.2-litre petrol and 1047cc diesel motor seen on the Zica hatch. As far as design is concerned, Tata has done a really good job of integrating the boot section - it looks balanced and not as an afterthought. It will also get additional features like automatic climate control, rear armrest, touchscreen infotainment system and projector headlamps. The Kite 5 is expected to launch early next year and will be priced around Rs 4.5-6.5 lakh.
Honda BR-V
The Honda BR-V is basically a heavily revised crossover version of the Mobilio MPV. Apart from getting a more butch and attractive exterior, the BRV also comes with a more premium cabin. The dashboard is now shared with the Honda City and overall perceived quality is a notch above the Mobilio. The BRV will be powered by the same 1.5-litre petrol and diesel motor which does duty in the Mobilio. We expect the BR-V to be priced between Rs 8-12 lakh and is expected to be launched by mid 2016.
Toyota Innova Crysta
Toyota has finally unveiled the next generation Innova and is expected to be a big step ahead of the existing decade old model. Christened the Innova Crysta, the silhouette of the MPV looks very similar to the old one but from the front and rear it looks modern and aggressive. The all-new cabin is high on quality, features and offers more comfort than the current car. It will also get a 2.0-litre petrol motor and an all-new 2.4-litre 147bhp diesel mill which will ensure a much better performance. As the current model is still very popular it won’t be surprising if Toyota elects to sell the more premium Crysta alongside the current model. The Crysta will be launched in two months time and is expected to cost between Rs 13-18 lakh.
Audi A4
Audi has unveiled the all-new A4 for the Indian market and is expected to be launched later this year. This new car is lighter and bigger than the current model and it looks as understated as before. It will be armoured with loads of features and the Virtual cockpit themed cabin looks fantastic. We expect the new A4 to be powered by a 1.8-litre petrol and 2.0-litre diesel motor. The Audi A4 will be launched in India later this year and we expect it to cost between Rs 32-44 lakh.
Volkswagen Tiguan
Volkswagen has unwrapped the premium Tiguan SUV in India and the car is expected to roll into Indian showrooms by the end of this year. The new Tiguan will boast of an attractive exterior, high quality interior and a long equipment list. We expect the Tiguan to be powered by a 1.8-litre petrol motor and a 2.0-litre diesel. The Tiguan will rival the likes of the Hyundai Santa Fe and will cost between Rs 24-30 lakh.
