Car sales during this auspicious period is usually higher and the customers also have a chance to avail the wide range of benefits. Although there is a wide range of cars to choose from, we have shortlisted seven cars across segments that you can consider driving home this Diwali.
Hyundai Santro
One of the most awaited launches for the year, the Hyundai Santro will be back on public demand in a new avatar on 23 October. The Korean car manufacturer will be showcasing the vehicle in a production-ready form on 9 October. Codenamed AH2, the small car is likely to revive the Santro name. The upcoming model is likely to be powered by a 1.0/1.1-litre petrol engine with an AMT transmission. Moreover, the vehicle is also expected to be offered with Hyundai’s first AMT transmission.
Ford Aspire facelift
Ford Aspire is set to receive its first major update since launch in 2015. Due for launch on 4 October, the vehicle is expected to get a fresh set of interior and exterior upgrades. Moreover, the vehicle is expected to be offered with a new 1.2-litre three-cylinder Dragon petrol engine that generates 95bhp of power and 120Nm of torque, the diesel version will however continue to be powered by the 1.5-litre engine. This time around the Aspire will also finally get a SYNC3 touchscreen system.
New-generation Maruti Suzuki Ertiga
The new-generation Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is due for launch this festive season. The new model will get a new design and fresh feature upgrades. Moreover, the new MPV will also get a new 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engine options. Six-speed manual is offered as standard while four-speed automatic is limited to the petrol variant. At the time of launch, the MPV will be offered in six-seat and seven-seat layout options.
Honda CR-V Diesel
Honda will be introducing the diesel variant of the CR-V in India on 9 October. The seven-seat SUV will be available in front-wheel drive and All-Wheel-Drive options. The SUV gets a 1.6-litre four-cylinder, DOHC i-DTEC motor mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission (with paddle shifts) generates 120bhp of power and 300Nm of torque. The new CR-V will get fresh upholstery options along with a seven-inch touch-screen infotainment system complemented by a modern TFT virtual instrument cluster. The SUV will be offered with air vents in all rows, with the third row featuring roof-mounted vents and more.
Mercedes-Benz C-Class
The country’s leading luxury car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz has launched the new C-Class in India for a starting price of Rs 40 lakhs (all-India, ex-showroom). Limited to a diesel 2.0-litre engine option, the new C-Class is available in two state of tune – C 220d and C 300d. Highlights of the exterior design language include a revised front bumper, a slightly larger front grille and the new headlamp layout. There’s a whole host of safety and driver assistance options over the standard cars including park assist, pre-safe as well as pedestrian protection.
Mahindra Marazzo
Mahindra has recently launched the Marazzo MPV in India for an introductory starting price of Rs 9.99 lakhs (All-India, ex-showroom). Limited to a 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel four-cylinder engine option, the MPV is available in four variants - M2, M4, M6 and the M8. The Marazzo is the first product to be developed through a collaboration between Mahindra Automotive North America, Pininfarina and Mahindra design centre in Chennai.
Tata Tiago NRG
Tata Tiago NRG emerges as a more feature loaded version than the standard hatchback. Changes are limited to cosmetic and feature upgrades while mechanically it continues to be powered by the existing engines. The vehicle gets an armored front end along with vibrant canyon orange highlights for the interior. The vehicle gets a five-inch Harman infotainment system that supports navigation with 3D Navi maps and voice command for media, radio and phone. The vehicle also gets four speakers and four tweeters from Harman. The standard safety feature include driver seatbelt reminder, follow-me-home headlamps, dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and Corner Stability Control, and reverse parking assist. The vehicle is also offered with rear wiper for added convenience.
