Nissan has finally decided to take up the compact SUV segment seriously and brought in the Kicks SUV in India. While we have driven the car extensively and you can read about it here, here are the top 5 things that make the Kicks an interesting buy.
360 degrees around view Monitor
Now the Kicks does have reasonably large proportions and parking it in tight spots could be a bit of a bother. While most cars in its segment have parking sensors and a reversing camera to make the task easier, the Kicks goes a step ahead with a 360 degrees view monitor. Camera’s on all four sides give a top view of the surroundings making parking even the tightest parking spots an easy task. You also get different modes to choose depending on which camera you want to concentrate on.
8-inch Infotainment screen
What really stands out on the Kicks dashboard is the massive 8-inch infotainment screen. Not only does it look good but also sounds the part with 4 speakers, two tweeters and a superb bass output. It also gets Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity along with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Navigation duty though is handled through phone mirroring.
210mm Ground Clearance
Ground clearance is an extremely important aspect for a car in India and more so for an SUV. The Kicks comes with one of the highest ground clearance for not only a compact SUV but also SUVs in a higher segment. At 210mm the Kicks will easily take on monster speed-breakers and a few dividers too.
Spunky Styling
With a name like Kicks, the car had to look the part and it does. The Kicks is a nice blend of radical lines and at the same time easy on the eye design. The muscular front flows nicely into the radically designed rear with those large 17-inch wheels giving the car a good stance. This along with the dual tone colour combo will make the Kicks a head turner.
Ride Quality
Being an SUV, good ride quality is a mandate. With long travel suspension, SUV’s take on potholes well but that also makes the low speed ride lumpy and cause lot of headshakes. Nissan has worked hard to give the Kicks a good balance of ride and handling and we think it’s a really comfortable car with a plush ride quality and decent handling.
