Top 5 things that put the S in Lamborghini Aventador

I’ve never met anyone who hasn’t smiled when I have mentioned the word Lamborghini in a sentence. It is one those brand names that invokes ambition, curiosity and most importantly desire. So when Lamborghini announced that it was bringing the ‘performance’ oriented Aventador S to India on March 3, I was instantly filled with ambition, curiosity and obviously (a lot of) desire. The Aventador S follows in a long line of S badged models going all the back to the original Miura S. So what makes this Aventador So Special that we had to put S in capital twice (mostly to push the joke but still) Read on to find out…

    More power
It is not like the Lamborghini Aventador isn’t fast or powerful. In fact, being the flagship from the raging bull, it is one of those cars that will do 0-100kmph in roughly the same time it takes the germs released from an uncovered sneeze to latch on to their next victim. Public hygiene jokes aside, the 6.5-litre fire-breathing naturally aspirated V12 has been boosted to produce 730bhp, a boost of 39bhp over the pre-facelifted model. In the already insane world of hyper cars, this outrageous figure means it does the 0-100kmph sprint is done and dusted in 2.9 seconds!

    Four-wheel steering
With so much power on the tap, The Aventador in its first avatar was believed to be the quite the beast to tame. Unlike the angry animals in the Spanish bull fight or those participating in Jallikattu, this new beast will be easier to tame as Lamborghini has fitted it with four-wheel steering. Coupled with the rear-biased AWD system and new dynamic steering this should make going around corner easier and assured.

    Lighter exhaust
Lamborghini has fitted this Aventador with a new three-pipe exhaust which is 20 per cent lighter than the one on the outgoing model. However, lighter does not mean that anything is compromised as it will still sing the sonorous high revving V12 opera piece that has defined this car since it was launched in 2011.

    Increase in downforce
Downforce is to the Aventador as calf muscles are to Usain Bolt. They are the crucial connection and help keep the beast on the ground. To boost this, Lamborghini has fitted this Aventador S with a new front splitter and diffuser which improve the downforce by a whopping 130 per cent! It also gets an active rear wing as a part of the package

    Sportier design
With its other worldly design, the Aventador is one of those cars that will still stand out even 50 years from now. The S model takes this crazy design just a bit further thanks to the new aero package and massive crazy wheels which make the car even crazier to look at.

    Boost your ‘Ego’
If you have seen by now, my story is full of superlatives to describe every new addition to the car and this next one is the like the little dollop of cream on top of a cupcake (lol). They have now added a new driving mode to the existing three and have dubbed it the Ego mode. This lets you set each of the adjustable settings in the car to your personal preference giving you exactly what you want. Probably, you could also say that this will be an assurance in your head that the car can be setup to do your bidding rather than the other way around.
