Volvo has launched the S90 in India and priced it at Rs 53.5 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai). The sedan is available in a single top-of-the-line Inscription luxury variant and brought to India via the CBU route. The S90 replaces the ageing S80 range and is a very modern vehicle. We have driven the car about which you can read here, and now this piece will highlight the top five features that need a special mention.
1. Design of the fascia
Well, the overall design of the S90 sedan is definitely modern and timeless. Bit it's the fascia that sports the brand's signature ‘Thor hammer’ headlights and an Iron Mark grille. This stylish front gets LED DRLs that are integrated right in the centre of the headlight enclosure giving it a very elegant look.
2. Cabin space
The luxury S90 sedan competes with the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, BMW 5 Series, Audi A6 and the Jaguar XF in its segment. It stands out for being the longest in its class and so the cabin space is also unmatched. Even six-footers occupy a comfortable spot in both rows. In fact, the second row offers enough room for even three passengers without feeling cramped, thanks to its width.
3. Giant 9-inch touchscreen system
Once inside the car, you will notice a huge screen that occupies a prominent space in the centre console. The conventional buttons have given way to this 9-inch infotainment system, which is super responsive and gives you a feel of using a tablet. Users have access to not just the music system, but navigation, drive modes, air-con and many more features through this single screen.
4. Four-zone climate control
The S90's cabin is very minimalistic and modern in appearance, but offers utmost levels of luxury. Volvo has equipped this sedan with four-zone climate control, meaning all four passengers can set the system to blow air at them at a temperature that they choose. Yes, independent cooling/heating for passengers.
5. Safety
Volvo has always been known for putting safety first and the S90 is no exception. Seven airbags, adaptive cruise control, front collision mitigation, rear parking sensors, lane keeping assist, automatic braking, ABS, EBD and BA, you just name it. All of these ancillaries are standard on the luxury sedan.
