Audi recently launched the facelifted A6 sedan in India for Rs 49.50 lakh (ex-showroom). The price sounds exciting but what we love even more is the fact that every time one of the ‘Big German Three’ brings out even a facelift, there are a host of new features or technologies introduced. We have decided to list (our) top five features of the facelifted Audi A6 Matrix.
Matrix headlights
A revolutionary new technology developed by Audi, it basically replaces all conventional forms of headlights with literally a matrix of LEDs that are computer controlled. They can act as cornering lamps and also dim themselves in intensity when throwing light on another living object or an oncoming car. The indicators have also been integrated into this setup and flow from end-to-end when activated.
Latest Audi MMI system
Modern day in-car entertainment systems have the ability to turn grown men/women into giggly little boys/girls, because let us face it, we all love pushing buttons or tuning dials to see results (a.k.a the DEE DEE syndrome). This latest MMI system gets an eight inch retractable screen, a graphic chip from Nvdia and has been mated to a 600W Bose Surround Sound System!
Dedicated airbags for the rear passengers
Out of the eight airbags on offer with the A6 Matrix two are dedicated side rear airbags. In a country where road accident statistics and a crooked politician’s income have the same number of digits, any new technology /feature that adds to the safety of the people in the vehicle is always welcome.
Drive Select Mode
Given, the Audi A6’s pedigree in India, it is almost certain that those who buy the car will want to get behind the wheel at least once a week. To give them something to have fun with Audi has included different drive modes that will change throttle responses and shift times allowing for an involving and fun driving experience.
Four zone climate control
One of the sure-fire ways to make someone feel special in an expensive car is to tell them that the climate control system can blow air at them at a temperature of their choosing. Audi is now offering four-zone climate control, which means all four passengers can vary the temperature of the air being blown at them. Quite literally, you could have Kashmir on one side of the car and a hot May afternoon in Connaught Place on the other side.
