Despite the fall in sales of SUVs in the recent months, different studies have suggested that SUVs and crossovers will gain strong traction amongst Indian consumers again. The compact SUV segment has expanded and the annual market size of this segment in India is constantly growing. Let’s have a look at the most selling SUVs in India in December 2015.
The Mahindra Bolero is a sturdy vehicle that has always enjoyed a good demand in India, especially in the rural areas. It has always been the top-selling SUV in our country and even featured among the top 10 selling passenger vehicles in India. Mahindra has kept evolving the Bolero over the years with the changing lifestyle and aspirations of customers, which speaks of the high demand of the vehicle. The Bolero topped this list with 7,133 units sold in December 2015.
Ever since the Creta made its global debut in India, it created a huge excitement amongst buyers for its looks and latest features. It is still enjoying a good demand in our country and its huge success has also helped the carmaker to post record sales in 2015. The manufacturer has received landmark bookings within no time and with 4,709 units sold last month, the SUV bags the second position.
Mahindra's latest kid on the block, the TUV300, was brought in to compete with the Ford EcoSport and the Duster. The new sub-four metre vehicle might not have done better than the Bolero, but has definitely replicated its success. The TUV300 sales figures for last month are 3,525 units, while the EcoSport, Duster and S-Cross numbers stand at 1,481, 2,323 and 2,000 units respectively. So, the TUV300 has climbed up to the third position, while the other three are completely out of this list.
The Mahindra Scorpio had not seen many comprehensive changes over the last so many years until 2014 when the New Generation Scorpio was unveiled. The latest model is built on an all-new platform and comes equipped with many new features. The manufacturer has focused on many aspects looking for a better performance, comfort, convenience and safety. In general, the Scorpio has always has been selling in decent numbers. With this refreshed Scorpio, the sales for this vehicle picked up and at 3,387 units in December 2015, it is slotted at number four.
With 2,456 units of the XUV 500 sold last month, Mahindra's flagship offering has just made it to the top five list. The latest iteration of XUV 500 is the refreshed version that looks better than the predecessor and is packed with many new features making it a better package.
