In today's day and age of connectivity, it has become vital that our cars come with as much connectivity options as possible in a bid to make our lives more convenient. Bluetooth connectivity and touchscreen infotainment system are the norms now and the least that one can expect. The compact SUV segment is, without doubt, the most popular segment right now and we take a look at the top 3 cars who offer the best balance of sound quality and connectivity options.
1. Tata Nexon
The Tata Nexon was Tata's foray into the compact SUV segment and what a grand entry it has made. The new-gen Tata's have been graced with Harman music systems and a barrage of connectivity options which take it straight to the top of our list. Talking about connectivity, the Nexon gets a 6.5-inch screen with Android Auto along with voice recognition technology to access navigation, phone calls, music with a press of a button. Additionally, the system also lets you read and reply to text / Whatsapp messages with voice commands. You also get voice warnings for various car functions like door open warnings, seat belt reminder, low fuel warning amongst others.Â
But the real party piece is the 8-speaker music system from Harman which for a car in this segment is simply brilliant. With enough punch to keep most audiophiles happy and multiple connectivity options, the Nexon is the compact SUV for the geeks and audiophiles.
 2. Ford EcoSport
The Ford EcoSport has just received a major refresh. Apart from the looks and new engine options, the interiors have received a major upgrade too. One of the big updates includes the 8-inch infotainment system. The new EcoSport gets Sync 3. Apart from Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Sync 3 offers Hands-free music and calls and navigation. It can also update itself over wi-fi connectivity. Â
Coming to the music system, the car gets 4-speaker and 2 tweeters. The sound quality is crisp and pretty good for a 4-speaker music system. All said and done, the Ford EcoSport triumphs the Nexon when it comes to features in the infotainment system but the Nexon has it beat in terms of sound output and quality putting the Nexon slightly ahead of the EcoSport.
3. Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza
The Maruti Brezza has been around the longest and recently got an update as well. The Brezza gets a 7-inch SmartPlay infotainment system that gets USB, Bluetooth and Aux connectivity just like the cars above. As with the norm, there is also voice command, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto along with Mirror link. there is a built-in GPS too but you need the maps pre-loaded on an SD card.
Now moving to the audio, just like the EcoSport, the Brezza gets 4-speakers and 2 tweeters. However, the audio quality does not match up to the Nexon or the EcoSport. While it isn't bad, it just cannot match up in the details. And you really have to play with the equalizer and audio settings to get a decent output. Where the SmartPlay really excels is the ease of use and doesn't take much to get accustomed to at all. Â
