The Japanese Domestic Market will get a new taxi in the form of the Toyota JPN Taxi. It is here to replace the Comfort and Crown models which have been plying on their roads for many years now.
It’s modelled along the lines of the iconic London black taxi cab and will replace the fleet of Toyota Crown and Comfort models that have been traversing the length of Japan for over 2 decades now. What’s more, this is the first time Toyota has made a dedicated model just for the fleet market.
As we have said before, it has been modelled on the likes of the London Taxi and thus offers similar levels of space and practicality. You have a high roof and long body with a major focus on the rear comfort and space. There are clever bits all around including a sliding door on the left side as well as a ramp for differently abled passengers.
It will be sold in two versions- Nogami and Takumi, of which the differences are mostly in the quality of the interior and the addition of LED head lamps as well as alloy wheels. It can be had with a 1.5-litre hybrid or a 1.4-litre i4 that can also be run on LPG.
Toyota taxis are popular around the world and we believe that this car will find its way in both RHD and LHD guise to markets around the world.
