Apart from the LS+ future flagship, Lexus is celebrating the 10th anniversary of the "F" sports models at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show. The dynamic duo of RC F and GS F was showcased in a limited edition guise alongside the LS+ Concept.
The F Sport has introduced the sportier iteration of the plain-Jane Lexus models. Ever since the launch of the IS F in 2007, the mantra of the F sports models has been "to create sports cars that can put smiles on the faces of anyone who wants to have fun driving, regardless of skill". The F sport moniker has helped Lexus to compete with the performance variants of the German counterpart.
The limited edition duo at the Japanese show will be sold only in the Land of the Rising Sun. They come equipped with performance shock absorbers for improved steering stability. The exhaust gets lightweight titanium mufflers. The CFRP (carbon fibre-reinforced plastic) exterior components add a sportier appeal to the cars as the body panels are finished in matte grey. The interior comes in a special colour accented by the F symbol colour – Heat Blue.
The Japanese carmaker hasn’t fiddled with the powertrain. So both the RC F and GS F continue to share the naturally aspirated 5.0-litre V8 engine with 467bhp and a whopping 527Nm of turning force. The coupe will do a 0-100kmph run in 4.4seconds while the GS sedan is a tenth of a second slower. Both the cars will hit an identical top speed of 270kmph.
