The cherry red coloured Mitsubishi Eclipse showcased at the ongoing Tokyo Motor Show 2017, is indeed one of the good looking SUVs from the modern times. This time around, the legendary Mitsubishi Eclipse moniker, a popular sports car from the 1989 which amassed over 1.4-million sales, has now been reproduced in an SUV body shell.
The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross will be available in petrol as well as diesel engine options. The petrol version gets a 1.5-litre direct-injection turbocharged petrol engine, while the diesel version gets a 2.2-litre direct-injection diesel engine. Both the engine options come mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and get AWD system.
Based on what can be seen, the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross gets a coupe styled roofline, while the bumpers combines mixed elements from the Lexus LS and the Toyota Aygo. The tubular LED brake lights run through the entire width of the back window. Along with premium upholstery for the interior, it also gets the latest infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The vehicle will go on sale in UK in 2018.
