Honda has revealed the new Sports EV concept and just like its sibling, the Urban EV, it is adorable. With its retro-modern looks and all-electric powertrain the Sports EV gives us a glimpse into Honda’s electric future.
The Sports EV, in spite of being an ultra-modern car, has old-school fastback coupe lines with a long-ish hood, raked windshield and the roofline sloping into the tail lamps. The round LED headlamps lurking under the hood-lone and pasted across he wide front grille make up for a smiley face which makes the car look good. The large wheels along with the muscular haunches in the back add character to the design.
Honda has set a 2019 date for it to go into production but hasn’t divulged any technical details. Being a sportscar, it should certainly be rear-wheel drive and can the spiritual successor of the legendary Honda S2000. And if the production cars looks anything like this, Honda’s rise to stardom is guaranteed and so will be its goal of electrifying two-thirds of its sales.
