The 2017 Tokyo has thrown out some really nice surprises and one of them is this cute little sportcar from Daihatsu called the Compagno. It’s a retro modern four door four-seater and revives a brand name that was last used by the company over four decades ago.
In that typical Japanese fashion, its gets a quirky design with elements like the Daihatsu grille, stubby rear end with wedge like tail lamps and most importantly a glass bubble roof that tapers to the rear to give the car a unique look. The interiors are standard Daihatsu fare but fitted with a little bit of extra because this is a show car. This quirky concept can be had with either a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine or a 1.2-litre hybrid motor.
At the Daihatsu stall, it stands alongside a the original Compagno concept from the 1960’s and it’s quite easy to see where Toyota’s budget brand has got its inspiration and design ideas from.
