The 2017 Tokyo Auto Salon is just a few months away. Ahead of one of the funkiest car shows on the planet we have laid hands on a few renderings of some probable performance cars that could debut at the show.
From the many, we have selected the three that we think will arrive there and here is our take on each of the drawings.
Toyota Supra
It was one of the most coveted performance cars to ever roam the corridors of racing and is now coming back after a gap of nearly 10 years. But this time around the Japanese and Germans have put their hands together to bring out this car. On European side, it will be the BMW Z4 while the Japanese will get it as the Supra. This rendering looks a bit other worldly, but considering how the performance cars from the land of the rising sun having coming out in the last few years, it would be no surprise if this stayed true to form.
Nissan 390Z
The Z badged Nissans have, like the Supra, been a constant face, in the world of fun Japanese cars. It began with the Z badged Datsuns but for the modern generation it was the Nissan 350Z and the hit 2003 video game, ‘Need For Speed Underground’ that gave the car its place in the sun. It was eventually followed up with the 370Z and now a 390Z is also expected. It will have the same formula of compact body and RWD but this time around, we could also expect a heavy focus on electric power and AWD.
Mazda RX-9
There hasn’t been a performance Mazda in quite some time and if we are to believe this rendering, then enthusiasts rejoice! It is expected to be called the RX-9, it will be RWD and be powered by Mazda’s legendary Wankel engine. The long hood and stubby body are signature Mazda elements while the grille is in line with their current design philosophy. We particularly like the wheels which really enhance the stance of the car.
