Hennessey, the American cousin of Brabus, is known to stuff insane amounts of power and torque in already ultra-powerful cars and trucks. But when they showcased the Venom F5 at SEMA last year with a 300mph (480kmph) top speed, it did raise quite a few eyebrows.
Expected to drive on the road by 2019, everyone has been curious about the declared 1600bhp powertrain and here it is at the Monterey car week which also hosts the famous Concours at the Pebble Beach.
The 1600bhp engine, in the typical American style, is a huge-block 7.6-litre V8 with two turbochargers feeding it with all the air it wants. This engine was being developed for the past five years with Shell and Pennzoil and is expected to deliver almost 1800Nm of torque. We have no clue about the gearbox because that too will have to be custom developed for the F5.
John Hennessey, founder and owner, seemed to be confident about the 2019 debut and the 300mph run. Only 24 units of the F5 will be built and 15 of them seem to have been sold already. Now, If you have 1.6 million dollars to spare, then it's all yours!
